The John Wood Community College Foundation’s Pathways to Promise Scholarship Fund seeks additional support for current and future students. The JWCC Foundation administers 150+ scholarships, yet still faces an unmet need.

Students struggle to navigate the gap between grants and educational costs. Many work multiple jobs and reduce their courseload, but studies show part-time students often drop out due to the extended time to completion.

Increased private scholarships can help bridge the gap, allowing students to focus on full-time studies, which will improve degree completion and entry into careers.

The Result

  • Increased educational attainment in our region.
  • Increased number of skilled workers into regional employment talent pipeline.
  • More students will enter college understanding they will receive the support they need.

The Goal

To provide a transformational opportunity for students and the community. The JWCC Foundation envisions an EARNED, last-dollar, private endowment that ensures access to college for all students.

Scholarship Avenues

  1. Pathways to Promise: Gifts designated for the Pathways to Promise Scholarship Fund. The level of unmet needs by a county or high school
within JWCC’s district are available upon request.
  2. Increase Support to Existing Scholarships: Current endowed or annual scholarship donors can increase annual support to cover unmet need.
  3. Create Endowed Scholarships: Create an endowed scholarship (Minimum $10,000) to focus on students with unmet needs not covered by grants.
A $10,000 scholarship endowment will provide approximately $500 (5%) in scholarships annually. The following chart provides examples for different levels of endowed scholarships:
Endowed Scholarship Corpus Annual Scholarship Distribution to Students
$10,000$500
$20,000$1,000
$30,000$1,500
$40,000$2,000
$50,000$2,500
$100,000$5,000

This campaign is about the Hopes and Dreams of the students in our community. That is why our primary ask is for individuals to consider a three-year pledge to jumpstart a major investment in scholarships.
