JWCC Foundation Scholarship Options
- Named Endowed Scholarship – A permanent and perpetual fund, this form of scholarship can be created with a gift or gifts totaling at least $10,000. The principal of the fund is invested to produce income and an annual award is made from the interest. Creating a named endowed scholarship can be a very meaningful way to honor family and friends.
- Emerging Endowed Scholarship – An emerging endowed scholarship can be established with a minimum contribution of $1,000 and a commitment to some financial contribution at least every two years. The fund must reach $10,000 within ten years.
- Named Annual Scholarship – This form of scholarship is awarded, as funds are available. Unlike an endowed scholarship, this is not a permanent fund.
The major benefactor of a scholarship establishes the scholarship name. You may establish a scholarship in your own name or choose to name it for a friend or family member. You also aid in establishing the criteria by expressing your intentions for the award. In turn, the Foundation will draft the criteria according to your specifications and present it to you for your approval.
Yes. Major contributors of a scholarship fund are routinely notified of the selected recipient(s). In addition, a scholarship reception is held each fall for contributors and scholarship recipients.
Scholarships for current students are widely advertised on campus in the Endowed and Annual Scholarship Publication. A selection committee carefully reviews each application and selects the most deserving recipient(s) based on the established criteria.
